At least, that's what I did over the past year.
My small, 8ft tall room was converted into a cozy loft bed with my computer underneath.
And upon planning out what I was going to do with this room, I did a ton of research and rounded up a list of gaming setup ideas for small rooms.
And here today, I will be sharing many of the inspirations I had researched over time with you, and how I came to the conclusion of building a loft bed with my gaming setup underneath.
But before you dive right in, you want to ensure you have carefully planned out how you want your small room to look like.
Careful planning is key here.
Let's be honest; you will never be fully satisfied with your setup (you're always going to want to upgrade, whether it's getting a new desk, a new chair, a new PC, etc.)
But don't worry, everyone starts somewhere.
Once you have decided on a gaming setup, once you have decided on a gaming setup, here's a guide on how to make a gaming setup, and then how to further improve your gaming experience and make your gaming setup look even better.
And once you've built your gaming setup, you have all the time in the world to upgrade your individual pieces.
Whether you're looking to add some gaming accessories, or to upgrade key parts.

All of them show of their unique personalities, ideas and the amount of work put into each to make their setup look nice.
Find one that you like and use it as inspiration to create your own battlestation setup.
If you only have room for a small setup, you can make do with a wide and long table top that fits all that you need.
You don't have to skimp out on desk space, just make sure you measure everything correctly, and you can have it looking like this.
If you're a collector, you can still put some of your collection neatly onto your setup.
What matters is the colour scheme and how you space things out.
A single monitor is probably your best bet if you only have limited desk space.
If you're trying to put your battlestation in the corner of your room, consider adding some floating shelves.
This allows for extra storage. The desk should sit flush against the wall too.
And that's all you need.
Majority of people would consider buying pre-made desk, or an Ikea desk with drawers on the side.
If you want to have maximum chair space and manoeuvrability, consider mounting your desk to the wall.
This saves a ton of room on the sides whilst being able stretch out your legs after those long gaming sessions.
If you're a true gamer, with a big household, and a shared room, you have to make ends meet.
That possibly means turning your bunk bed into a battlestation.
You can make your bunk nice and cozy, and when you're ready to game, it's right there waiting for you.
Definitely a great idea considering the limitations.
Sometimes, smaller is better, and if that's your preference, then by all means go for it.
If you're looking to get a dual monitor setup, have the second monitor sitting vertically.
That will save some extra room on the side, enough for you to be able to showcase your computer too (if you like it that way).
If your room is compact, but you have a long, blank wall, then you have the ability to get a long desk.
That being said, this may block off access to certain parts of your room, in this case, the closet.
But nevertheless, this gives you even more access to storage, due to the extra desk space...
And makes your gaming setup look a lot more clean and minimal.
If you have a tiny desk, it doesn't have to be messy.
In fact, if you make the most use of your space, it could potentially look like this.
Clean, compact and perfect for your needs.
Take note of the TKL keyboard which will save a couple of inches of room, allowing for more mouse movement on your desk.
Using a peg board for extra storage is a useful way to use your limited space.
Not to mention, getting wireless peripherals and doing cable management can clear up a ton of space too.
The less wires you have, the more spacious your desk will be.
The more things that are elevated, the more desk space you will have.
Cable management and monitor mounts can clear a lot of much needed space.
Being organised can go a long way to having a gaming setup you are proud of.
Don't be afraid to add your personality into it. If you like themes implement one and add some LED lights to make it shine.
LED lighting can go a long way, with floating shelves adding some spice to your setup.
Depending on where you live, houses and apartments can be expensive.
So you may not have a enough space to build a big setup.
No problem... just use your closet.
The desk design can add a lot of storage options to your setup, as seen in this setup.
Keeps it clean and minimalist too.
If you live in a college dorm and have a limited amount of space, then get a small desk.
Everything will have just enough space to move around without feeling cramped.
And don't forget to do your cable management.
If you want to save even more room, you can opt for a desk that sits flush in the corner - a corner desk.
You won't be able to add a ton of accessories on your desk, but it should be adequate enough to get the job done.
If you need 3 monitors but only have a limited amount of room, consider turning the other 2 monitors (apart from your main monitor) vertically, and then have your main monitor horizontal.
You could even do all 3 vertically, but that would take some time getting used to.
If you like desk space and want to showcase your computer, but also have a widescreen monitor, then you can do exactly this...
Get a small form factor PC.
When everything is small, it makes your gaming setup look even more spacious.
And then you have more room for your wide screen monitor.
If you have the chance to change your bed, you can opt for a loft bed.
Loft beds are basically bunk beds, without the bottom bunk (just the top with the bottom being open space).
This allows you to build your gaming setup underneath, thus saving room and allowing you to have more storage.
The more shelves you have, the more storage you will have.
The more items you can place all around, even if your setup is small.
If you only have a specific part of the room to build your gaming setup, then get everything flush.
You can use both ends of the wall and fit a desk in like a glove, like so.
You can also do the same for the floating shelf to add some extra storage space.
If you need a long table with extra storage, consider getting Ikea's Linnmon desk, which features a great tabletop and drawers on both sides.
Or you can pick and choose your own desk with drawers, and custom builds them using their desk legs.
The combination of sizes, colors, shapes, and materials is endless.
It's no secret a loft bed can clear up a ton of space.
But adding a floating desk to it can give you more space on your desk, and have a lot of leg room to move around too.
This really opens up your room, so consider this as your next gaming room setup.
Your gaming bedroom doesn't need to be full of RGB lights and collectibles.
Sometimes keeping it simple is best.
On the other hand, you can make your room look nice and bright with the use of RGB.
RGB allows the manipulation of colors on your setup, and can set the mood too.
Blue can draw a more mellow mood, whereas red is more intense.
White can give off the sense of purity, or innocence, while black lighting can be symbolic for power, or elegance.
This is especially good at night as you can set your lights to a dimmer color which is easier on your eyes.
Maybe your gaming setup room isn't your only hobby.
If you have another hobby, like collecting shoes, then utilize your space for that first.
Your gaming area doesn't have to take up a lot of space.
On the plus side, you could even use a vertical monitor mount to have two horizontal facing screens (with one on top of the other).
Sometimes changes occur in your life and you have to move your small gaming setup elsewhere...

If the room allows it, and you have two separate setups, a long corner desk will work very well.
Sure, it might be a little bit more cramped, but it's a great use of space.
If you like to have open space on the floor, consider elevating everything.
Your PC, your monitors, and your table should all be floating, with the clever use of floating shelves, and mounts.
If you're a big fan of TV shows, movies, or anime, you can showcase the collection nicely, as long as it's organized.
Ok, there may be some of you out there who are still serving and therefore your living options are limited to the barracks.
I just had to feature this one as it's just cool to know there are people out there like u/quicKsense_ who are serving, and have limited living options, yet still find the time to build their comfy setup.
Maybe your game room setup is in a place where there are a lot of people hanging about.
If that's the case, you can mount a TV above your PC gaming setup, and then connect the flat screen to your computer.
A 2-in-1 combo so if you want to watch movies and use your PC as the streaming device, you can do so.
Similar to our previous setup, setting up your TV above your setup can allow you to stream media such as Netflix or Disney+ at the comfort of your gaming setup.
Not only that, but you can also mirror your game if anyone is interested in your gaming, and you can add a sofa behind your desk setup for you, or other people to relax on.
Sometimes you just have a lot of interests and hobbies, hence why not fit it all in one room.
Don't get me wrong, don't make it messy, have everything in a convenient place and organize it properly.
This will be the result.
Countless hours of fun awaits you.
If you don't mind giving up movement in your room, then you can build a corner desk that runs flush to your bed, and then to the other side where you will fit all of your PC components and peripherals.
In turn, this will give you a good amount of desk space.
Then you can have your setup on one side, then your TV mounted so that when you're just about done gaming, you can chill on your bed and watch some movies.

Well no problem, that's more than enough room to have a comfy battlestation!
Sometimes the quieter, the better.
If you like to jam out to some tunes, write and compose your own music, then a loft bed setup is all you need.
A loft bed gives you enough space to fit a spacious desk, with a widescreen monitor, as seen above.
If you're a fan of the wood-type look, then this one is for you.
Lastly, a loft bed allows you to fit everything, whether it's a widescreen, lighting, a long table.
The choice is yours, there is a lot of space you can utilize, get creative.
